Does Your Loved One Need Immediate Medical Care?
WHAT TO DO IN THESE COMMON MEDICAL EMERGENCIES
Victoria ER continues to hold a focus on providing resources and building a healthier community. Sheila Kilgore, the Marketing Director for Victoria ER, organized the event and provided facility tours for the first Health Fair at Victoria ER on October 4, 2017 from 11-5pm. The Victoria ER provided free fun, blood donation, free blood pressure screenings, and free flu vaccines for everyone throughout the community.
Blood Donation The community residents came to the event to show their support for post-hurricane victims by donating their blood.
Why donate blood?
Blood is needed every 2 seconds
Blood cannot be manufactured
One in seven people admitted to the hospital need blood
Accident victims, like those affected by the hurricane, need blood Free Blood Pressure Screenings and Flu Vaccines
Others community residents came to check themselves by receiving a free blood pressure screening performed by Victoria ER’s lead radiology technician, Ashton Hollas. Why check your blood pressure?
High blood pressure often has no signs or symptoms
High blood pressure oftens leads to a higher risk of stroke, heart attack, and kidney problems
Over 150 residents of the community signed their flu shot consent form with Jackie Haliburton, Victoria ER’s lead registration clerk, and received a free flu shot given by registered nurses Sam Haliburton and Jenette Hill, Director of Nursing. Victoria ER way proud to give over 150 flu vaccinations that day! Why get a flu shot?
It protects you from influenza
It protects others around you who may get sick like the elderly, babies, and those with chronic medical conditions Fun and Prizes
The country station, KIXS 108, provided live radio, and Victoria ER provided family-friendly fun at the event with over 20 prizes to giveaway and refreshments for those who attended.
Roslyn Faust, one of the community residents, thanked Victoria ER by saying, “Thank you Victoria ER for always being there for our community. Even in the midst of the hurricane recovery, you are front and center conducting a health fair to offer free flu shots, free blood pressure screenings, blood drive, etc. Thank you for always keeping us healthy.” Be ready for next year as Victoria ER will host another local Health Fair event to help everyone stay healthy in the community!
