COVID-19
As our community continues to navigate through the changes of COVID-19 and its impact on our daily lives, Victoria ER is honored to protect the health and improve the quality of life of the citizens in our area.
Victoria ER 24 Hour Emergency Center wants to reassure the Crossroads that we are taking precautionary measures towards every patient that comes through our facility as we continue to hold our patients and staff’s health to the highest degree. Please review the following information:
COVID-19 Testing Availability
Victoria ER has the resources to send patient samples off for laboratory testing to confirm COVID-19 cases. The pandemic status for coronavirus has allowed for limited testing throughout local facilities, but patients will be screened by Victoria ER physicians, and will be tested appropriately.
The following measures will be instituted at Victoria ER 24 Hour Emergency Center:
- If patients are exhibiting signs and symptoms of COVID-19, we ask that you call ahead at 361-573-1500 to prepare our staff for your arrival.
- Victoria ER will ask you a few screening questions as you enter our facility. If our staff determines that you have symptoms, we will provide you with the proper personal protective equipment.
- Patients are limited to one companion during this time, but no visitors will be allowed if the patient is under evaluation for COVID-19.
Victoria ER would like to remind our community to please call us at 361-573-1500 with any questions regarding our protocols, or with questions regarding your medical safety.
How to Protect Yourself
Victoria ER 24 Hour Emergency Center asks the Crossroads area to implement these prevention tips.
- Clean Hands: Wash hands for 20 seconds or use hand sanitizer with 60% alcohol.
- Cover: Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when you cough or sneeze or use the inside of your elbow.
- Don’t Touch: Try to avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth. Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces daily.
- Avoid: Avoid close contact with people who are sick. If you do need to be around others, put distance between yourself and others.
Because information is constantly updating, you can find current details and resources at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Before the academic year begins, Ashley Furniture Homestore and over 20 local businesses and volunteers came together on July 22nd in order to support local children with the collection of 50 brand new bed sets, mattresses, bed frames, pillows, and brand new backpacks filled with necessities for the new school year. Victoria ER is proud to provide each child with a 70 piece Johnson & Johnson First-Aid Kit in order to prepare them with the supplies required for any minor first-aid emergency. After 4 years of participation in A Hope to Dream event, Victoria Emergency Room remains appreciative to the contributions made from various local businesses to give back to the 50 children who will benefit from the donations.
For the past 2 years, Victoria ER has been proud to host our holiday blanket drive to benefit our community, and after 2 years of generosity, we are back for our third drive. That’s right, the 3rd Annual Victoria ER Blanket Drive is on now, and in our final two weeks of collections, we want to celebrate how much this event has thrived thanks to our dedicated staff and truly caring patients.
Victoria ER’s 3rd annual Blanket Drive aims to collect as new or gently used blankets through Monday, December 17th and distribute them within our community. All of our collected blankets will go to The Salvation Army, Victoria County Senior Citizens Association, Christ Kitchen, Nursing Homes, and more.
Victoria ER employees Sheila Kilgore, Director of Marketing, and Marcy Moncada, Community Outreach Specialist, have begun to personally deliver the donations throughout Victoria in hopes of making a difference with the gift of a comfortable blanket. At a time when temperatures are freezing, having a nice, warm blanket is something many of us take for granted, and giving blankets to the community is an impact we hope will make a difference.
Our Blanket Drive is not the only outreach event that Victoria ER is participating in, though. This year we are also taking part in the Every Child Deserves a Little Christmas project. Victoria ER took part in Every Child Needs a Little Christmas as a drop off station from November 1st – December 14th for the Marine Corps Reserve Toys 4 Tots campaign. Generous people have donated new toys to our facility for the less fortunate children of the Victoria area who all deserve a little Christmas magic.
The Toys 4 Tots National Campaign has distributed over 7 million toys and Victoria ER is proud to participate in a campaign that brings a smile to our local children. With the help of our local families, we’ve been able to make this holiday season a little merrier and brighter for children in need.
With both our 3rd Annual Blanket Drive and Every Child Deserves a Little Christmas happening in December, Victoria ER is proud to give back to our community. We hope that all families in Victoria are getting to celebrate their holidays right, with good friends, good food, and good spirit. In the event of any holiday mishaps, our facility is open 24/7 with concierge-level medical care for all ages.
Last month, Victoria ER’s community outreach started the holiday season right with a two-day fund raiser to support children’s health. The Annual St. Jude’s Radiothon took place on November 15-16, which is an event that works with local radio stations to raise money for
With most of Victoria ER’s past events, we take a leadership role, but this time, we were playing support for the great people at St. Jude’s. Their hospital provides research and medical services for children in need. Their facility also ensures that families in need never pay for treatment, and as they provide life-saving care to children, donations from all around are what help this hospital make new medical strides. Victoria ER was proud to help St. Jude’s with the annual Radiothon.
As we enter the holiday season,
As October came to an end, Victoria ER was as busy as ever with not one, but two, community outreach events. On October 26th, we were proud to host Victoria ER’s 3rd Annual FREE Flu Shot Drive as well as our first annual Breast Cancer Awareness Month Event. With two events happening at once, Victoria ER was packed with members of our community, and we couldn’t have been prouder of the outpouring of support we received.
refreshments, ER tours, and special giveaways at the event.
Whenever Victoria ER hosts events like these, we are happy to see such positive reactions. Victoria is a community that values its public health, from free seasonal vaccines to rallying in support of cancer awareness. For all of the people who came out to Victoria ER on October 26th, we are grateful for your support and proud
Every year, Ashley Homestore hosts a large fundraiser to support local families by giving children brand new twin bed sets, mattresses, bedframes, and bedding. The funds for this project are raised throughout the year, and in the summer before school begins, Ashley Homestore hosts “A Hope To Dream” and announces which children in their community have won new bed sets. Victoria ER has partnered with this event for three years, and this year we were excited to join in by preparing new backpacks pre-packed with school supplies for children in our area.
At this year’s “A Hope To Dream” Program, local Victoria businesses partnered with Ashley Homestore as well, to help donate new items to this impactful drive. Sheila Kilgore, Victoria ER’s Director of Marketing, and Dr. Kevin Denton, Victoria ER’s Medical Director, were there, packing and delivering backpacks to families in-person. “This is my third year taking part in this event,” Sheila Kilgore said. “It is always so much fun and so heart-warming to see the kids it is benefitting. A new bed isn’t want most people think of as a back-to-school drive, but for children in need, these beds are so important.” A new mattress and bedframe can be expensive, but vital things for children to get proper sleep. “My favorite part,” Sheila continued, “Was getting to show one little girl her new bed and all of the donated school supplies we had gathered for her. She was so happy!” Ashley Homestore donated 50 complete bed and mattress sets to children in the Victoria community on July 31st.
In addition, local businesses, like
